Last year we put out a call to young aspiring PQA screenwriters to send us their original film idea. The prize? The winning student would have their short film made by a professional crew and get to shadow the director on set.
We have read through every film treatment and were amazed by the creativity on display across all colour groups of PQA students. So many original ideas that we would love to make, but the results are now in, drum roll please…!
The Winner!
Lady Oriole by Kinara Dyer-Tuitt from PQA Wickford Blue Group
Lady Oriole is a touching story blending folklore and coming of age revelation. A young girl, Mercy, mourning the passing of her Grandmother in Montserrat, discovers a scrapbook of memories left for her which reveals more than she could ever have imagined. An important legacy passed on through the female line from generation to generation.
Work will now begin with Kinara to develop her treatment into a short film script to be filmed later this year.
